Vlashent Sata (Albania)
The Franco-Albanian singer-songwriter-composer Vlashent Sata pursues a dual career on stage and in education as he teaches at conservatories in Evry and Paris. He is equally at ease when performing his own work across Europe as he is when interpreting the work of others. Hana, his first album, was a great success in Albania. On it, the artists perform a mix of Albanian folk music, modern jazz and pop, rendered with the melodic phrasing of a classical musician. "The singer's very particular voice and timbre, the very personal style, the poetry of the texts and a well-chosen sonority, while retaining a simplicity that directly appeals to the public, make this project an ensemble of high level artistic elements," wrote the Albanian press. His CD was also a success far beyond Albania's borders, with radio stations worldwide bringing his music to a wide audience. Following the international fame brought by the release of Hana, this year he is working on an English and French adaptation.
